The Budget Of Ardh-Kumbh Mela 2019 Is The Costliest Ever
The state government has allocated Rs 4,236 crore for the Kumbh Mela 2019, being held in Prayagraj which is more than thrice the budget of the Maha Kumbh in 2013. The previous state government had spent about Rs 1,300 crore for the Maha Kumbh 2013. Of the Rs 4,236 crore, the UP government is investing Rs 2,000 crore, and the central government has allocated Rs 2,200 crore, of which Rs 1,200 crores has previously been released. Also, the State Transport Corporation has deployed 6,000 buses to ferry pilgrims and visitors into and around Prayagraj. Private companies have set up more than 4,000 premium tents and camps with modern amenities and facilities in other parts of the town.
When it comes to security, about 10,000 policemen will be patrolling the 32-square-kilometer pilgrimage area, which in turn will be monitored by more than 1,000 CCTV cameras.
