But it comes at a big price, which is a severe increase in the pollution levels of River Ganga There are several reasons behind the extreme increase in pollution levels during the grand fair. For example- Use of plastic bags, detergents, and soaps by the pilgrims, Shaving by sadhus as part of their starting process and this practice has been linked to blood-borne diseases as well. According to a report, there is a huge increase in enteral and diarrhoeal diseases during the Kumbh Mela Tour, both obviously attributable to unhygienic practices. However, different measures are being taken by the UP Government and the central government in collaboration with numerous NGOs, colleges, and schools in Allahabad, to make sure that there is a minimum impact of pollution on the River Ganges during Kumbh Mela 2019.  About 2,75,000 community toilets, as well as 20,000 community urinals, are created to ensure that people refrain from urinating in the open. Also, about 16,000 dustbins are installed at regular intervals to make sure the proper disposal of waste. Some other steps being taken towards a clean Ganga is efficient water filtration systems, burying of human waste in the ground and the installation of eco-friendly toilets.
